Answer 1 :
Hi there, Australian voltage is 220-240 V รข€” your laptop will be able to cope with the voltage which is the same in France. All you will need to do is get a plug adapter to adapt the flat prongs to the round prongs. Hope this helped, JPJ
Answer 2 :
just a plug. All computers ( especially laptops) are built in order to be compatible to different current intensities you may find all over the world. When i go to France, from the US, i use a small adapter plug. It works perfectly fine

Nice, France - Taking laptop on holiday?

More specifically, whats it like in the hotel names: Comte De Hotel Nice (http://www.hotelconnect.co.uk/destinations/hotelpic.asp?citycode=NCE&hotelcode=667&twhoc=googleUK&gclid=CIKL3a7k2J0CFcts4wodwSPmsw) any experiences of you going to Nice with your laptop? cheers

Answer 1 :
Do you really want to worry about a laptop while on holidays? If you read the information about the hotel you'll see the Wifi is in the lobby, not in the rooms, so you won't have any privacy and might annoy other guests and/or hotel staff. Playing games and chatting at all hours could be a problem. All hotels, from cheap to really expensive, warn people about leaving valuable items in the room. So you need to work out what to do with the laptop when you go out. My advice is leave it at home.
Answer 2 :
No problem with your laptop here, just like any hotel in Europe you may get charged to access the internet through their wi fi, Can;t tell you about that particular hotel, There are quite a few intwrnet cafes here,so if you just need to pick up e mail etc that option maybe good for you. Have fun and enjoy yourself here, it is a beautiful part of the world.
Answer 3 :
Get a netbook. I picked up an Acer Asprie One (Linux vesion is fine for checking emails etc) on ebay for 120 euros. Weighing in at just 900 grammes (2 pounds), it doesn't add too much to your baggage so makes an excellent travel computer. Even though Nice is a great place (I go there regularly to visit the in-laws), it's good to be able to check your emails and get the English news. I find that hotels are evenly split between providing wifi free of charge or charging extortionate rates. You cannot usually tell from the hotel web site which is the case. But you can also generally find free wifi in cafes, so you can check your emails and chat on Skype while having a drink.

Do I need a laptop adapter in France?
Do I need a laptop adapter in France?
I am leaving for France for three weeks in two days. Do I need a laptop adapter? I will be in Brittany and Picardy if that matters. I have heard mix reviews on this subject. The program director told me that I do not need one and it only matters for hair straightener's, etc. Thanks! Also, by adapter I mean one that will work in the French outlets. Will my adapter work? Also, I need my plug for my laptop to work. If my plug falls out it dies because the battery is dead. I know the voltage is different but not sure on the subject.

you will not need a voltage adapter. but you will need a plug adapter and you can use your exissting laptop adapter with the plug adapter to make it fit into their outlets since they are different. to going to an electronics store and see if they have any. you can find them in airports usually at the travel shop but they will cost more over there. if you have a fry's electronics in your area go there and tell them you need a travel plug adapter. they are like $3 - $5. once again you do not need a voltage adapter. those are usually around $20 - $50.

Answer 1 :
Absolutely as long as you use the dell charging adapter. That adapter has a wide range of input and it will bring down the voltage to what's appropriate for your laptop. So technically the converter is changing the plug from US to France..
Answer 2 :
European voltages vary from country to country. Google for more definitive spec's, but I wouldn't try a US power supply there or you'll fry it. Check with 'i go' for possible devices or adapters.
