Should I bring my laptop to Europe?
I'm going to Europe for vacation [UK, France, Germany etc] I don't know if I should bring it. Does it cost money for internet connection? Any other issues I should know about? It's a HP and it's wireless

You will need to buy a special adapter for your charger as they use 240V and we use 110V. They probably have free WIFI in internet cafes and the like just like here. If you stay in a hotel, they may offer free internet as well.

laptop & American outlets. totally confused!?
HELP! laptop & American outlets. totally confused!?
I'm thinking about buying a macbook. However, I live in France but am moving to the United States in a few months. The outlets here are different from American outlets so I'm afraid that if I buy a computer in France, it will be damaged too quickly because of the different power that France uses. I will for sure need to get a converter but my question is does that damage goods prematurely? Thanks in advance for your help!

Just buy a power adapter for the US when you get here. If you use the round 2-prong 220v Euro plug it won't fit in an American power outlet anyway. The official Apple adapter is $79 from Apple. Stay away from the cheap clones.

There are voltage converters that you can purchase at any electronics store. Make sure you get a voltage converter and not just the outlet converter. The way you can tell is that voltage converters are bigger and bulky, outlet converters are light and small.

What hardware to use to extend WIFI signal?
What hardware to use to extend WIFI signal?
In our University, every student is authorized to access the WIFI signal of the school. My problem is, the only way that I could connect to the WIFI is if I'm in the University WIFI hotspots. Therefore, I can not access it in my room which is just about 400meters from a hotspot. When I'm in my room and try to search for a signal, my laptop could detect it but cannot connect to it. I am guessing that probably the signal is extremely low that's why I can't connect. I am wondering if its possible to extend the range of my University's WIFI signal so that it could reach my room. I'm looking for a device that could pick-up signals from a distance. I've heard of the device called "cantenna" but its not available here in France. Are there other mainstream products available to do this? If so, how does it work? Thank you very much!

What you need a is called a "Repeater" .Its a device used to repeat the signal to throw it a further distance. this should help: "A recent review of the repeating function of the D-Link DWL-900AP+ access point identifies a range increase of 160%. In the review, the original signal was lost at about 55feet from the router/access point. With the placement of a DWL-900AP+ set to repeater mode at the site of the original signal loss, the signal strength was still around 72% at 140 feet.
