What do I need in order to use my hair straightner in France?

What do I need in order to use my hair straightner in France?
I have an Embark converter and adapter plug set. I want to be able to use my Remington Wet 2 Straight straightner in Paris when I go, but when I read the converter box, it said to not use on something with a single 120v rating, which I think I have... I don't know what to do. Also I want to take my laptop, can anyone tell me where I can get a grounded converter?

Most large department stores will have what you need. Converters are also available through some AAA offices that offer travel services as well as any store devoted to travel.

What are the power converter requirements to use my laptop in Europe.

What are the power converter requirements to use my laptop in Europe?
Dell D410. Going to Czech Republic, France, and Spain. I've read various things on the Internet. Some say to use a converter, some say don't. And I cannot find anything on the Dell site that answers the question. Have you done this? If so, what is the safest, easiest way? Thanks for the answer. Somebody here suggested I chat with Dell online. They gave me the answer. (No converter needed, just an adapter.)

Answer 1 :
Been to Europe 6 years. The normal power situation is double.over there. 110 here, 220 there. Power converters or adapters are essential if your laptop doesn't have one. They are actually inexpensive and readily available over there.
Answer 2 :
bon voyage u'r notebook & power adapter are built to operate globally all u gotta get is a plug adapter kit, as below http://www.ciao.co.uk/APC_International_Notebook_Plug_Adapter_Kit_C6_3_Prong_Power_cable_kit__5634012 the reason being that the power plug / sockets in different countries are shaped different true voltage levels are different, but all u got to do is read the power adapter specifications which should read 100 - 250 volts input, 50 / 60 hz your output is constant 19.5 volts dc, irrespect of input voltage check it out & let me know ...

Answer 1 :
? I love the journey to the south of France. Have you considered a book? Bit old-fashioned, but you never know, anything's worth trying once.
Answer 2 :
You do not say how you are travelling, car, train or plane. Just a few suggestions: Sudoku, or crossword compendiums. Magazines on your particular interest or containing various brain teasers and word games. Guide book about the region which you can read to decide where you want to go for trips, excursions or visits. Pack of cards to play patience or other game. Ipod to listen to music or prerecorded programmes. Pocket camera just in case you see something that you want to snap from the window if travelling by car/train. A book that will really capture your attention and which you find unable to put down.

I'm going to Paris in a month. I would like to know what adapter people have had good experiences with since this is completely new territory to me. I would be charging my laptop and a digital slr camera.

Answer 1 :
go to any stores like the source or best buy or other similar stores and ask them what they would recommend based on where you are travelling and what items you plan to plug in. I went to the source when I went to France and they sold me a plug adapter that would work in europe
Answer 2 :
You can buy it when you arrive in Paris from any local convenient store or just borrow from your hotel reception desk. No problem!
Answer 3 :
Most of modern electronics use dual voltage/dual frequency adapters... There is a big possibility that both your gadgets might work on European grid. If you take small plastic adapter (on your power supply cable) where S/N is located, there should say something like: 100-240V, 50-60Hz then you're set. If it's just 110V and 60Hz then you really need power adapter. In case it is dual, then you only need adapter plug (something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F8E449-Universal-Travel-Adapter/dp/B00008O393/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1204300606&sr=1-1 You can also buy great quality for I think $20 aboard any planes flying overseas as part of duty-free-shopping. If you do need power converter, 110 to 220V this is pretty good one, works both way - downgrading/upgrading voltage. Note that frequency doesn't change but small appliance shouldn't feel different freq. http://www.amazon.com/jWIN-JA-V50-Watt-Travel-Converter/dp/B00013BN2K/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1204300606&sr=1-5 Hope it helped...
