Do I need a converter for my 220 Volt laptop computer?
I am visiting Georgia from France, and have my 220 volt laptop computer. Do I need a converter, or just an adapter? I know 110 volt laptops don't need a converter to go to france.

Answer 1 :
it depends. if you're laptop is 220 volts and the outlets in france are 110 volts, then you'll need a converter. ask someone who knows how many volts do they have on outlets in france.
Answer 2 :
look at your current power supply, it should show input power as 100-240v. if it shows that you will only need the plug adapter to plug it into the us outlet

Believe me, you need a converter. Unless somewhere on the comp that can be switch from 220 to 110 do not, I repeat do not use a adaptor. I did that when staying in Europe a few months ago and burned out my comp's electrical box.

To be safe, better have a step-down transformer. You can buy one of these from hardware stores. These things "convert" 220V appliances so that they could be plugged into a 110V outlet. If the adapter has a voltage rating of 220V, plug it into the transformer and plug the transformer into a 110V outlet.
